Additionally, physical therapists promote mobility, function, and quality of life through examination, diagnosis, prognosis, and physical intervention.

Physical therapy assistants (PTAs) promote optimal health and functional independence for individuals. PTAs administer specific physical therapy treatments under the direct supervision of a licensed physical therapist. PTAs assist in restoring function, mobility, and strength through the use of various techniques.

Special education teachers serve both as educators and as advocates for students with special needs. Special education teachers are trained professionals who help children with needs to achieve their highest potential as well as assist them to strive and progress beyond their limitations. Special education teachers are patient, understanding educators dedicated to giving each individual student the tools and guidance needed to help maximize success. Their schedule is divided among planning, instruction, assessing students and managing their individualized education programs (IEPs).

School counselors are vital members of the education team and provide valuable assistance to students. School counselors assist students in areas of academic achievement and personal, social, emotional, and physical development. Additionally, school counselors provide all students preventative and responsive services and activities delivered through various program components including classroom guidance curriculum, individual planning, responsive services, and support systems.

School nurses are responsible for giving leadership and guidance in the school community while overseeing school health policies and programs. The school nurse provides expertise and oversight for the provision of school health services and promotion of health education. The school nurse uses knowledge and judgement in providing health care to students and staff, performs health screenings, and coordinates referrals to healthcare providers. The school nurse serves as a liaison between school personnel, family, community, and healthcare providers to advocate for health care and a healthy school environment.

School psychologists provide effective services to help children and youth succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally. School psychologists provide direct educational and mental health services for children and youth, as well as work with parents, educators, and other professionals to create supportive learning and social environments for all children. School psychologists apply their knowledge of both psychology and education during consultation and collaboration with others.

Speech and language pathology is concerned with issues surrounding human speech and language communication disorders. Providers assess speech, language, cognitive-communication, and oral/feeding/swallowing skills to identify types of communication problems and the best way to treat them. There are multiple methods of human communication using all human senses both nonverbal communication (such as facial expression, posture and gesture), and verbal communication.

Speech and language pathology assistants (SLPAs) assist individuals with speech and language communication disorders. SLPAs perform therapy treatments under the supervision of a licensed speech and language pathologist. In fact, SLPAs recommend treatment programs and also assist planning and home instruction.
